And here’s to the next 30 years …

Last Friday night, along with over 350 present and past clients, their families and carers and the Honourable Mayors of Brent and Harrow, we celebrated our 30-provision of day care and homecare to the disabled Asian community in NW London.

Our guests at ‘The Drum’ in Brent Civic Centre were entertained by performances from Muskaan, our very own wheelchair dancers, AddictiveTV + blind musicians and the Tamarind Theatre Company and its own version of Umrao Jaan Circle of Light, complete with magical song and dance. Music was provided by our well-known friend Naraynn PN. Clients and staff persuaded over 100 guests to join in a Train Dance around the tables. The food was excellent, we catered for three dietary traditions – meat, vegetarian and Jain.

On a serious note, the importance of our culturally sensitive provision to the Community was emphasised by a succession of speakers, including Brent Council Leader Cllr Muhammed Butt. Pradip Shah, our Chair, and Michael Jeewa (Co-Founder) led our management committee in a presentation of our remarkable history and achievements, including supporting disabled communities overseas and advocating for the rights of disabled people at the UN.

Zeenat Jeewa, our CEO, hosted the evening and looked forward to an even more successful next 30 years.
