THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DEAF AWARENESS WEEK
Deaf people, particularly the younger deaf people need very positive, encouraging and motivating environments in order for them to enter with confidence, the spheres of society and achieve participation in making a good career, generate income, set up a family life. And, take up social, economic, political and civic engagements.
Awareness and positive action is specially required in some parts of the world where even language is used to discriminate , oppress and dismiss people with hearing impairments, for instance with just one utterance of : 'Deaf and Dumb'.
