December 3rd 2020 marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

UNESCO marked the day with a week-long programme from 25 November to 3 December 2020 under the theme: "Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world by, for and with persons with disabilities". Disability inclusion is an essential condition to upholding human rights, sustainable development, and peace and security.

At APDA we understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on not only the disabled community, but also the Black Asian Minority Ethnicity (BAME) community and commit to provide support to those affected in these communities.

This year due to Covid-19 we were unable to celebrate at the center. APDA hosted its first virtual celebration of IDPD on Zoom. The day was celebrated with music, entertainment, and guest speeches.

Our celebrations were also joined by The Deputy Mayor of Brent Lia Colacicco, Mayor of Harrow Nitin Parekh, and Deputy Leader of Brent Council Cllr Margaret McLennan who all shared a few words with us.
