Vaisakhi, Pahela Bhaishakh and Theravada Buddhist New Year Festivals
Around this time of the year, tourists visiting some of the Southeast Asian countries are amusingly warned that there's no way to avoid getting wet because it is time for the fun filled Buddhist water festival and the New Year. Tourists are told that if they want to stay dry, they must stay indoors.
What a sad irony ! APDA had planned to celebrate the THINGYAN/SONGKRAN festival together with the harvest festival of VAISAKHI and the PAHELA BAISHAKH at APDA like it does every year. But alas, we are now compelled to postpone these celebrations as well.
Nonetheless, here's wishing all of APDA's Users, their Carers and Families, Friends and Supporters a happy Vaisakhi, Pahela Bhaishak and a strong and healthy Aluth Avurudha/Hnitsan.
Let's put our Balle Balle Bhangra and the scented water sprinkling on hold.
As we are not able to celebrate this year we can look back at last year’s fun celebrations.
